On Tuesday June 28th, Grand Performances was awarded a proclamation from Los Angeles City Council for 30 years of inspiring, celebrating and uniting Los Angeles. Council Member Jose Huizar spoke movingly on the values and mission of GP. Councilmembers Cedillo and Price recalled personal experiences with Grand Performances through the decades. Cedillo recalled coming to California Plaza as a law student!
Danielle Brazell, General Manager, City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, gave testimony in Council Chambers on the notable example GP represents when public and private partnerships along with city support builds and sustains dynamic cultural experiences for all.
Board members Michael Dolphin and President Rahul Marwah joined Executive Director Michael Alexander and staff in accepting this honor.
