Dear Friends,

For those of you that missed last week’s newsletter announcing the start of our Fall Membership Campaign here it is!

We’re catching our breath here at Grand Performances as we wrapped up our summer season, which introduced you to new artists and sounds through intimate performances at artists homes and local studios. Plus we took you along a visual and audio journey through our six cinematic Feature Presentations. We are proud to provide artists this platform as their livelihood had been impacted by this pandemic. And we hope we were able to bring you with some healing, joy, and respite in these challenging times.

We plan to continue our online presentations and once it is safe to gather look forward to welcoming you back to the new Cal Plaza and GP Amplified events in the community. And just like the first time we started back in 1987, these performances will be free. However, this expanded programming will increase our costs next year so if you believe in our mission then join us in renewing or becoming a new member. We have updated our membership program, including benefits, for 2021.

In addition to our a one or two-year membership option, with a discounted two-year rate and annual levels starting at $150 ($13/mo), the additional benefits for 2021 will include:

Online gatherings featuring creative people affiliated with GP
Online meet and greets with select artists
Exclusive content for members to view from any device
A revamped 2021 member newsletter featuring interviews with artists and supporters, sneak peek events, and other surprises.

And if you buy a one or two-year membership between now and the end of this year, you will be invited to an exclusive online artist event that will air sometime in 2021 and a member-only reception and tour of the new Cal Plaza! More information on this event, including the artist(s), in the weeks and months ahead. Between our careful, socially distant live events at Cal Plaza and through GP Amplified, and our online programming you have more choices to connect and enjoy our events in 2021 and beyond.

As we get back to normal, free live events will be more important than ever. The Music Center recently received a $25 million gift to expand free programming to all Angelenos and our immediate neighbor MOCA began offering free admission thanks in large part to a $10 million donation. These are wealthy benefactors. Grand Performances has its benefactors as well, and that is you. Free and diverse programming is part of our DNA since day one.
