Seasons Greetings GP friends,

As we close one of the most turbulent years in recent memory, I want to say thank you for your continued support of Grand Performances (GP) as it means more today than ever before. When 2020 began, we were looking forward to our upcoming season back at the brand-new California Plaza and were planning our first GP Amplified performances of the year that were to be held in Culver City. As we would all learn soon enough, our lives would be altered with the spread of the COVID-19 virus and consequently had to adjust to a new reality.

For Grand Performances, that meant the cancellation of our live performance season and transitioning the GP staff to work remotely from home. However, we were determined to fulfill our mission in 2020 and bring our dynamic programming to the community we serve. The result was launching GP online programming last April with two distinct programs: artist TAKEOVER and Featured Presentation. The former is where artists took over our social media platforms and would perform from the comfort of their own home or in select locations while the latter was a cinematic performance shot at unique venues. For all artists, it was for them to share their art, music, poetry and dance with the GP community during this difficult time. We were immensely proud to present these 29 performances and hope it brought some comfort and enjoyment to all.

We are now planning for the 2021 programming season with a potential return to live event programming as well as continuing our online presentations. One of the challenges we found in presenting the virtual programming this year was the need for additional support in our newly created Creative Services department, both in programming and production. In order to achieve our 2021 programming goals, this will be a high priority for GP as we are aiming to raise $20,000 by the end of the year.

As we begin this season of giving, please consider a tax-deductible gift to Grand Performances and ask yourself the question what does GP mean to you? Starting this week, you will see past GP artists and supporters answering that same question and we hope it inspires you to support us next year and in the years ahead. Whatever your answer is your donation of $100, $50, or $25 dollars will help our mission to inspire, celebrate, and unite Los Angeles through free access to global performing arts.

You can donate securely online at www.grandperformances.org/donate. And for those of you who give $100 or more you will be invited for a private tour of the new Cal Plaza sometime in early 2021!

On behalf of the board, staff, and volunteers thank you for your continued support. Have a wonderful giving thanks day with friends and family.

P.S. A reminder that gifts of every size are appreciated and if your company provides matching gifts, your impact will be doubled.

In appreciation,

Mari Riddle
Executive Director
