Where were you in the summer of 1987?
Gas was .89 cents a gallon, a postage stamp was .24 cents and…
Grand Performances had just launched its first season at the new California Plaza development on Bunker Hill in a very different downtown L.A.
A lot has changed in our city and the world, but Grand Performances is still open to all.
And our values are the same today as they were 30 years ago – diversity, inclusion, and inspiration through free arts programming.
To launch our 30th anniversary year-end campaign, we collected our 30 favorite reasons to support Grand Performances from board, staff, social media, and audience members.
I support GP because I believe strongly that access to the arts is a right and not a privilege (#2). And as impressive as #25 is (over 1 Million Southern Californians served), I think most will agree that #30 years is something to celebrate!
You are invited to be part of this milestone celebration. Grand Performances must raise $30,000 by the end of our fiscal year on December 31 to make our 30th anniversary season the best ever with world-class international performing artists alongside local artists, film, dance and theater, new programming in public libraries, and artist residencies for youth – all free to the community.
When you give a fully tax-deductible gift online at grandperformances.org/give you can also share your favorite reason for supporting GP.
Grand Performances is much more than the free concerts we provide. We are a community of people who believe the arts can bring people together in magical ways. And with your support, we’ll be celebrating global culture and each other for another 30 years.
