  • Be brave, be smart, and beware of the wolf! : Family Series @ Grand Performances

Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved children’s classic will surf, swing, twist, and turn across L.A.’s musical landscape. Join us for every show to experience exclusive variations on this musical masterpiece such as Classical, Jazz, Surf Rock, and one narrated in Spanglish!

Come early to craft and create with the entire family! 30 minutes prior to each performance there will be a variety of activities for children to enjoy including wolf mask-making, wand creating, face painting, and reading with First 5 L.A.’s very own Potter the Otter! These activities are supported by our partners First 5 L.A. and Glendale Arts.

The hunt is happenin’! With indie music sounds and whimsical imagination, Latin Grammy Award winners Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band deliver Prokofiev’s children’s classic through California Pop with a surf rock twist. This catchy tale of courage celebrates grrrr(l) power with L.A. style, an exciting event for families and friends.

    Peter & The Wolf – Edición Latinx – Sunday, August 20, 2017, 3:00 PM & 4:30 PM

While a Latin interpretation of a Russian children’s story may seem an unlikely pairing, we at Grand Performances know that music speaks to everyone, as long as you’re present to hear it. Narrated in Spanglish, by Fernanda Kelly and performed by ¡Aparato! this cross-cultural take on Prokofiev’s symphonic tale plays with the impact of musical and spoken language.

Pre-show activity: Wand making and face painting!
